Kenneth Broghammer, 80

May 29, 1941 – January 19, 2022

Kenneth Broghammer, age 80, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away in Vero Beach, Florida, following emergency surgery for a sudden medical condition.

Serving in the US Army for 26 years, including 13 years in Germany – he was also based in TX, NJ, MA, and KS.  Following his career in the Army, Ken held various leadership positions in the field of addictions and substance abuse treatment. He served as CEO/COO/Hospital Administrator for various addiction centers and hospitals in MA, NH, WI, NC, and FL. Ken had a passion for helping others and was well-respected in his field.

His hobby, shared with his nephew, David, was collecting and refurbishing clocks – he especially loved antique German clocks and took pride in bringing old clocks back to life.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; daughter, Charlene (John) Palmer of Las Vegas, NV and Dana Point, CA; son, Ernest  of Charlton, MA; stepson, David (Susan) Coggins of Spartanburg, SC; stepdaughter, Deborah Wittig of Sun Tan Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Jack and Jeffrey Palmer, Carley Broghammer, and David and Lindsay LaPrad; step grandchildren, Katherine (boyfriend Daylon Freeman), Madyson (Andrew) Pennington, Sheena Lambrecht, Taylor (Amanda) Lozeau, and Spencer Oluich; sister, Carol Girardin; and brother, Paul (Claudia) Broghammer.  Ken also shared special relationships with nephew, Carl David (Deborah) Broghamer and nieces, Bonnie Girardin Wade, Linda Swenson Legasey and Lisa Marie (Omar) Velez.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Colleen; parents, Minnie (Pearce) and Ernest Otto Broghammer of Auburn, MA; and siblings, Dot Swenson, Janet Sjogren, and Earl, Carl, and Robert Broghammer.

Ken touched many people and will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He entertained many with daily jokes and mantras including one of his favorites “There’s no right way to do a wrong thing.”
