Carlton Lee Willis, 88

August 21, 1933January 06, 2022

Carlton Lee Willis, age 88, passed away on January 6th, 2021, in Vero Beach, Florida.

He was born in St. Augustine, Florida to the late Edmond and Lettie Willis.

Carlton was a 30-year, United States Air Force Veteran and served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. While serving in the Air Force, Carlton received numerous awards, medals, and commendations to include: the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, US Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon with One Oak Leaf Cluster, US Army Good Conduct Medal with Three Devices, Korean Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal with One Device, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal with One Device, United Nations Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct with Sliver Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with One Silver and One Bronze Oak Leak Custer.

After Carlton’s career in the United States Armed Forces, he worked for the Naval Aviation Depot in Jacksonville, Florida for 15 more years before finally retiring as a Supply Technician.

He was a member of the Grace Anglican Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Willene Gayle Willis; daughter, Cheryl Lynn McCloud; son, Stewart Lee Willis; brothers, Edmond Willis of St. Augustine, Florida, Richard Willis of Middleburg, Florida, Kenneth Willis of Middleburg, Florida, Vernon Willis of Orange Park, Florida, and Ronnie Willis of Orange Park, Florida; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on January 17th, 2022 at 10:30 AM with military honors.

Rosemary Nelson, 94

April 20, 1927 – January 1, 2022

Rosemary Nelson, 94, passed away January 1, 2022 in Vero Beach, FL.

She was born April 20, 1927 in Ozone Park, NY to the late Joseph and Pauline Palone Ottaviano.

Survivors include her son Dr. Jeffrey Nelson and his wife Lorna Lessee.

She is preceded in death by the husband Arden J. Nelson.

Rosemary was a well-known French and antiquities dealer in the Hamptons.

The family will welcome friends on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 8:30-9:30am at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach, FL, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach at 10 am.

A Graveside Service will follow at 1:30pm at South Florida National Cemetery.

Jerome “Jerry” Albert Fitzpatrick, 84, Vero Beach

December 29, 1937 – January 02, 2022

Mr. Jerome “Jerry” Albert Fitzpatrick, 84, of Vero Beach passed away January 2, 2022.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Albert Fitzpatrick and Kathryn Pellerin Fitzpatrick.

Jerry was a 1956 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Euclid, Ohio.  He was a veteran and served as a reserve for the Navy. He married the love of his life, Shirley on November 14, 1964. Jerry started his career in the telephone industry with Ohio Bell before he and Shirley moved to Pompano Beach, Florida in 1970 where he worked for Southern Bell as a Cable Splicer until his retirement in 1991. He was a lifetime member of the “Telephone Pioneers”.

Traveling and “Cruising” with Shirley brought him great joy; together they took several cruises and saw many beautiful sights. Jerry was also an avid golfer. The highlight of Jerry’s life came during his high school years, when he caddied for Arnold Palmer the summer before Mr. Palmer’s first notable victory in 1953, at the Northeastern Ohio Amateur and the rest is history.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Humphreys Fitzpatrick; sister, Sheila Fitzpatrick of Concord, Ohio; sister-n-law, Sandra Humphreys Tramte of Mentor, Ohio; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers, John, and Thomas Fitzpatrick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s honor to VNA Hospice house at 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Prayer Service will take place 11:00 am Friday January 14, 2022, at Strunk Funeral Homes & Crematory.
