This collection of works by Angela Corbett presents the artist in her inaugural one-person exhibition. This event is organized and produced by the Fine Arts Cultural Enrichment Teaching Studios (FACETS), and presented in conjunction with the Gifford Historical Museum and Cultural Center and Dr. Samuel A. Hunter Memorial Foundation. The exhibition will be on display during January and February of 2022 to coincide with the Martin Luther King, Jr. and African American History Months celebrations and sets the stage for Women’s History Month in March.
Corbett, Academic Program Manager at FACETS, is an artist, writer, and graphic designer whose works exploit an innate sense of color in combination with an acute sensitivity to skills of visual organization. This combination allows the artist to create works that are visually appealing and aesthetically compelling. She uses this format as a platform to present her story and her perspective on family, cultural and social issues as filtered through a lens of a highly personal and individualized iconography. The works in this exhibition chronicle Corbett’s initial foray into artmaking beginning in 2006 and follows her path along an arch that showcases her creative maturation and suggests continued growth beyond its current state. The artist will be available for a gallery talk and attendant activities related to this event. The exhibition is curated by Dr. Terry K. Hunter, Executive Director, FACETS.
After This! Before, During and Beyond is a continuation of programming that focuses on Community Outreach, Arts Education, and providing culturally significant activities designed to include and actively engage the general public.
