INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — One person was injured in a shooting Friday morning not far from Osceola Magnet School, sheriff’s officials said. The incident caused Osceola Magnet School, along with two other campuses, to be placed on a lockdown that lasted about an hour.
Indian River County deputies received reports of gunfire about 10 a.m. in the 2200 block of Waterside Lane Southwest, west of Osceola Magnet School, sheriff’s officials said. A person was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, sheriff’s officials said.
The individual’s condition was not immediately known. Further details on the person were not available.
It was unclear if a suspect was in custody Friday.
Osceola Magnet School, Indian River Academy and Oslo Middle School were placed on code yellow precautionary lockdowns, School District of Indian River County spokesperson Cristen Maddux said. All lockdowns have since been lifted.
