‘Beachside Bonfire Fest’ sparks support for Vero lifeguards

Vero Beach was on fire at the Beachside Bonfire Fest 3, held recently along the beach from Mulligan’s, where hula dancers and fire dancers thrilled the crowds, to Costa d’Este, where folks danced to the rhythm of a Latin band, and on to Waldo’s, where they boogied down with a country BBQ.

The event was a benefit for the Vero Beach Lifeguard Association, whose members sat in kayaks awaiting ceremonial torches which were dropped from a Paris Air helicopter. Once received, the lifeguards raced to the pyres to light the bonfires, all done under the watchful eye of our Indian River County firefighters. The event raised funds and awareness of the VBLA, which funds the purchase of needed equipment and their goal of a Humiston Beach headquarter building.
