Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County ready to kick off Annual Walk to Remember on November 13, 2021

VERO BEACH, FL – September 28, 2021– The Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County is in high gear as it readies the organization and community for its signature fundraiser on November 13, 2021 at Riverside Park in Vero Beach– the annual WALK TO REMEMBER.

WALK TO REMEMBER raises awareness of and crucial funds for vital programs and services that help individuals in Indian River County who are grappling with Alzheimer’s and/or Parkinson’s and related neurodegenerative diseases.  All proceeds from the event are invested locally in programs ranging from facilitated support groups, educational caregiver workshops, music appreciation and social respite to light exercise, Qigong, yoga and related movement programs.

Judith Lemoncelli, Senior Director, Development & Communications at the Alzheimer & Parkinson Association, said, “We are encouraged by the enthusiasm from the Vero Beach community and look forward to celebrating with our supporters on Walk day.”  Lemoncelli added that hundreds in the community are expected to participate at Riverside Park and also by walking in small groups in their neighborhoods. Because of the restrictions imposed by the current pandemic, the Association is keeping registered walkers up to date on gathering places and starting points for this year’s Walk.

“The Walk To Remember continues to take on a new look this November but the reasons for participating haven’t changed,” Lemoncelli said.  “All proceeds stay local and benefit the vital programs that serve people with memory or movement disorders. We have a user-friendly Walk website and we encourage residents to start or join a team at www.walktoremembervero.org.”

This year’s Presenting Sponsors are the Walter S. Borisenok Family Foundation, Coastal Concierge Services and the George E. Warren Corporation. Additional leadership support is provided by Este and Charles Brashears and Regency Park/Harbor Chase.  For more information, contact Judith Lemoncelli at the Alzheimer & Parkinson Association at 772-563-0505 ext. 107 or at judyl@alzpark.org.
