SEBASTIAN — A man was jailed earlier this week after deputies said he drove away from a crash that killed 77-year-old Sebastian bicyclist Julianna Horvath-Krol in July.

Deputies on Sunday arrested Andrew Ordrick Selogy, 52, of the 8000 block of 103rd Court, Vero Beach, on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident with death. Selogy was released Monday from the Indian River County Jail on $75,000 bond.
Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigated the wreck. The collision between a GMC truck and the bicycle happened about 9 p.m. July 9 on County Road 512 just west of Delaware Avenue.
Deputies arrived on scene and saw a woman, identified as Horvath-Krol, unresponsive and lying in the center median. The woman’s bicycle was found close to her body in the eastbound turning lane, reports show.
The truck driver, Selogy, “left the scene of the crash without rendering aid or calling for emergency services,” reports show. Deputies said Selogy returned to the crash site about 30 minutes later and told officers he was involved in the wreck.
Deputies began interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. Other motorists said they saw Horvath-Krol traveling westbound in the inside lane of C.R. 512.
The bicycle did not have any rear or front lights, reports show.
“The dim lighting near that intersection and the time of night would make it hard to see a bicyclist without any rear lights,” deputies noted in the report. “There was a designated bicycle lane on the outside of the outside lane. (The bicyclist) was wearing dark-colored clothes and a backpack on her person.”
Deputies obtained Ring doorbell footage from a home located about 60 feet south of the crash site. The video captured audio from the collision including a “loud impact and tires screeching as the vehicle left the scene,” reports show.
Deputies said Selogy was driving a minimum speed of about 30 mph. The speed limit on C.R. 512 at the crash site is 35 miles per hour, reports show.
Horvath-Krol died from multiple blunt-force injuries to her head, neck and torso, according to her autopsy report. Medical examiners said Horvath-Krol was not wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck.
Medical examiners ruled Horvath-Krol’s manner of death as an accident.
Deputies arrested Selogy and booked him into the county jail. Selogy has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. Nov. 29, court records show.
