December 13, 1958 – September 06, 2021

Mark R. Smith, age 62, passed away September 6, 2021 at his home in Sebastian, Florida.

He was born December 13, 1958 in Vero Beach, Florida to the late Dean and Ruby Smith.

He was a carpenter with S.R. Smith & Sons of Vero Beach for many years.

Survivors include his daughter, Shannon Richard; grandchildren, Carson Richard and Rylee Richard; brothers, Jerry (Sherry) Smith, Danny (Amber) Smith and Paul Smith.

A gathering of friends and family will be held 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory.

Larry S. Smetzer, 75, Sebastian

July 06, 1946 – September 03, 2021

America said goodbye to one of its longtime protectors last week. Larry S. Smetzer, a resident of Sebastian, Florida, since 1987, and Vietnam War veteran, passed away on September 3, 2021, following a brief illness.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Larry served the law enforcement community for 43 years, retiring from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office in 2016. He had worked as a Detective and always worked hard to solve cases to help bring closure to many families. While working with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, he formed the first Economic Crimes Unit. Larry had previously been a member of the City of Marietta, Georgia, Police Department for 13 years, serving on the Department’s first SWAT Team and as a Detective. After leaving Marietta Police Department, he was employed by The Limited Group as a loss prevention investigator.

Larry Smetzer was born in Elkhart, Indiana, to Ralph Ira Smetzer and Naldine Smetzer, both of whom preceded him in death. Larry was a graduate of Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was also preceded in death by a niece, Christine Smetzer, of St. Louis, Missouri.

Larry Smetzer is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bonnie Smetzer, of Sebastian, Florida, his brother Mike Smetzer of Sebastian, two sons, Robert Evanega, of Hickory, North Carolina, and Brian and Maddison Smetzer, Rice, Texas; granddaughters Amanda and Jesse Whitley of Belmont, NC and Scarlett Smetzer of Rice, Texas; a grandson Alex Evanega of North Carolina and five great grandchildren.

A gathering will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, beginning at 10 a.m. with a celebration of life service following at Noon at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, 1655 27th Street, Vero Beach, Florida 32960.

William Hamilton Kemper, age 78, passed away August 23, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.

He was born December 26, 1942 in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania to the late Ernest and Edna Kemper.

Mr. Kemper was predeceased by his beloved wife, Tonia Kemper.

A Celebration of Mr. Kemper’s life will take place on September 15 at 4:00 p.m. at Sexton Plaza, Vero Beach.

John Urban Servos, 76

January 12, 1945 – September 01, 2021

John Urban Servos, age 76, passed away September 1, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.

He was born January 12, 1945 in Washington, DC to the late Joseph and Hermina Servos.

Mr. Servos was a veteran of the United States Navy.

John was a Service Technician with AT&T for over 35 years.  He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Canaveral Mineral and Gem Society, and Communication Workers of America (Local 3111). He was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Michelle Mears Servos; sons, Colby (Michelle) Servos and Joseph (Heather) Servos; daughter, Tara (Michael) Morgan; granddaughters, Amelia Morgan, Juliet Servos and Eleanor Servos.

A Gathering of friends and family will be held 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory.

Isobel ‘Sandy’ Soukup, 86

August 15, 1935 – September 05, 2021

Isobel (Sandy) Soukup wife of the late Robert C. Soukup passed away on September 5th, 2021.

Sandy was born August 15th, 1935 in Pittsfield, Ma. to the late Clayton and May Williams of Lebanon Springs, NY. She graduated from New Lebanon Central High School in 1953 and Berkshire Business College. She worked for General Electric and IBM in Pittsfield, Ma.; White Plains, NY; and New Fairfield HS and MHHS.

Survived by a son, R. Scott Soukup (Barbara) of Holly Springs, NC, a daughter Wendy A. Surovy of Vero Beach, Fl. and five grandchildren- Courtney, Kaitlyn, and Matthew Surovy, Christian Soukup and Alexis Brown. Brothers-in-law Vincent and Harold Soukup of Florida and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A cremation to follow with burial in cemetery of the Evergreens in Lebanon Springs, NY alongside her husband; at the convenience of the family.

Patsy Jackson Powell Smith, 85, Vero Beach

January 07, 1936 – September 04, 2021

Patsy Jackson Powell Smith, 85, of Vero Beach, Florida, left this world unexpectedly September 4, 2021.

She was born to the late Otis and Ruth Lynn Jackson in Ludowici, Georgia on January 7, 1936.  She graduated from VBHS Class of 1953.  She was married to Grover “Rea” Powell and together they had three children.  They were married for 39 years until his passing.  Patsy was blessed to find love again and married Carl Smith.  They were married for 15 years until his passing.

Patsy worked for the A&P, Advertiser, News Tribune, IRC School District, and the Vero Beach Press Journal until her retirement.

She loved her family with all her heart and loved to cook. Holidays were her favorite and always decorated her home for all to enjoy.  Her happiest times was when she was spending time with her family.  She was strong in her faith and loved the lord and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.  She was a member of Wabasso Women’s Club.

She is also preceded in death by her twin brother, Pat Jackson and her granddaughter, Kayla Powell.

She is survived by her three children: Kaye Summerall (Joe), Wanda Schlitt (Larry), and David Powell (Mary); her sisters:  Mary Jordan and Misty Hunter.  She was a grandmother to:  Matthew, Aubrey, Corey (Amber), Taylor, Alisyn, Rylee, Kaelin, Asher, Pam, Theresa, David, Melissa, Brandon, and Kristofer.  She also had many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 10th, 11:00 a.m. at Strunk Funeral Home Vero Beach Chapel; Funeral services will also be streamed so that all may attend safely from their home if preferred. Ralph W. Allison, 77, Sebastian

August 25, 1944 – September 5, 2021

Mr. Ralph W. Allison, age 77, of Sebastian, FL, left this world for his heavenly home on September 5, 2021 following an extended illness.

Ralph was the founding Pastor of Englewood Christian Assembly of God in Englewood, Ohio and lived a full life of ministry through pastoring, building churches, medical missions, and singing gospel music.

He glorified God and blessed others through short writings, poetry, and song.

He was also an accomplished construction superintendent/project manager for many commercial projects.

Ralph was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, and gardener.  He was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always putting family first.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence (Lora) Allison.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Jean (Hundley) Allison, and children Tammy (Todd) Britton, Audra (Jonathan) Galasso, and Heather (John) Weiss; grandchildren Sydney, Grady and Arie Britton; Brock Baronn, Mia and Grayson Galasso, step grandchildren Tommy, Chris, and Deborah; Bryce and Ella Weiss; siblings Beverly Buschur, Clarence (Butch) Allison Jr., Judy Mesecher, Sherry Allison, and Sheila Warner, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at:

on Sunday, September 12, 2021, with 10:00 am Visitation, followed by 11:15 am Service.

Immediately following the services Ralph’s committal will take place at Sebastian Cemetery.

Anthony Mario Napoleoni, Jr., 53, Sebastian

April 19, 1968 – September 05, 2021

Anthony Mario Napoleoni, Jr., 53, of Sebastian, FL passed away on September 5, 2021 and will be forever in our hearts and in our prayers.  He was born in Providence, RI.  Anthony was the loving husband and best friend to his wife, Erica Marie Napoleoni (Quattrucci), for 29 years, married 26 years in November.  He was a devoted and loving father to his two sons, Nicolas Anthony Napoleoni and Nathan William Napoleoni.  Anthony enjoyed radio broadcasting, voiceover work, collecting and playing vinyl records, jamming on the drums, biking, walks on the beach, and his dog Uno.  He adored his family and the home they built together.  He was talented, funny, and liked by everyone who met him.  Besides his wife and sons, Anthony leaves behind his father, Anthony Mario Napoleoni, Sr., his mother, Beverly Ann Swanson (Simone) and her husband Donald Swanson, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Anthony worked in radio broadcasting for 38 years, most recently as the Director of Talent Development for iHeart Media.  He aspired to talk on the radio since he was a child.  At 15, Anthony worked part-time for WKRI-AM in West Warwick, RI announcing Red Sox baseball games.  After high school, he could be heard on-air at WXIN on the campus of Rhode Island College, where he earned a BS in Communications.  As “TJ Napp”, he worked as a professional on-air talent in Providence, RI for KIX 106 and 92 PRO-FM.  In 1995, Anthony progressed to larger market station 95.5 WPLJ in New York City, and was given the name “Tony Banks” by radio greats Tom Cuddy and Scott Shannon.  In 1996, he was tapped for his first programming position and became the Program Director/Air Talent for 98.5 WKRZ in Pittston, PA.  Anthony continued his radio programming journey working for Y-100 in Miami, BOB 93.3 in New Bern, and 107.1 WA1A in Melbourne, FL.  He joined iHeart Media (Clear Channel) in 2012 as the Senior Vice President of Programming for the Midwest and was named Director of Talent Development by 2016.  As Director of Talent Development, Anthony recruited, coached, and mentored on-air talent, enjoyed working closely with his mentor Dennis Clark, and loved growing the iHeart brand until his untimely death.  You will be greatly missed my love.
