George McEwan Bryant, 79, Vero Beach
November 24, 1941 – August 23, 2021
George McEwan Bryant, attorney, retired to Vero Beach in 2005. As a retiree he was dedicated to his community. Always caring, willing to help or advise where he could. He touched many people with his good deeds.
Three times a week, he was up early and out for a round of golf with his buddies. Later in the day he often had a meeting somewhere. He was always willing to join in whatever activity was happening. He had a “Cheshire Cat” grin, and a sense of humor to go with it.
George cared deeply about his community. He served for six years as President of The Moorings of Vero Property Owners’ Association. Inc. Even when he went to the beach, he would take the time to sweep the sand or nail down a board or two. He was always committed to the MPOA and advised his successors when asked.
George was an organizer, thinking through every detail. He was a member of the Moorings Yacht and Country Club where he also served on the Yacht Club board. He was chairman of the annual “Christmas Lighted Boat Parade,” bringing Holiday cheer to the community.
George believed in education and bringing people together. As President of the Brown University Club of the Treasure Coast Inc., George presented interesting speakers from the local community and Brown University. He was also active with the Brown University Class of ‘63.
George was generous, giving of his time and energy to help others. He served on the Board of Directors of “Wheels and Keels of Vero Beach Foundation”, which raises money for local charitable organizations. He was a member of The Eagle Society – Cleveland Clinic Indian River Foundation, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach.
George and his wife Barbara spent many summers in Dorset and Manchester Vermont. George served on the Board of Directors of Hildene in Manchester Village, the ancestral home of Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln. He was a member of the Dorset Field Club in Dorset, playing golf whenever he could.
George grew up in Ridgewood, NJ where he graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1959. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was an Eagle Scout earning his “God and Country Award”.
He graduated from Brown University in 1963, where he was Editor of the “Brown Daily Herald” student newspaper.
He graduated from Columbia Law School in 1966, with a JD degree.
He married his wife, Barbara Ann Phyfe, September 10, 1966.
George started his career with Cravath, Swaine & Moore in NYC. Later, he was corporate council with New York Life Insurance Company and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He retired in 2005 and moved from Ridgewood, NJ to Vero Beach.
George was a loving husband, father and grandfather who, as an Eagle Scout, tried to leave a place better than he found it, hoping to make a difference.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his daughter, Meredith Lee Bryant of Vero Beach, his son Scott McEwan Bryant of Short Hills, New Jersey, and three granddaughters, Ruth Evelyn Bryant, Madeline Sydney Bryant and Deborah McEwan Bryant.

Michael John Butler Sr., 53

MIKE WAS BORN IN ELIZABETH, NJ WHERE HE SPENT HIS CHILDHOOD FOLLOWING THE FOOTSTEPS OF HIS FIVE OLDER SIBLINGS AND GROWING UP WITH THE NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS WHO BECAME LIFELONG FRIENDS OF HIS. HE WAS A FREE SPIRITED FUNNY AND LOVING SOUL. MIKE HAD A TREMENDOUS LOVE FOR MUSIC AND THE OUTDOORS. MIKE WAS WHAT YOU WOULD CALL A “DEAD HEAD” HE LOVED TO REMINISCE OF HOW HE TRAVELED THE COUNTRY FOLLOWING THE GRATEFUL DEAD AND HAD BEEN TO OVER 180 SHOWS.
IN HIS EARLY TWENTIES MIKE MET HIS WIFE AND LIFELONG PARTNER OF 28 YEARS STACY. TOGETHER THEY BOUGHT THEIR FIRST HOME IN UNION BEACH, NJ WHERE THEY SPENT 18 YEARS RAISING THEIR FOUR CHILDREN. IN THIS TIME MIKE STARTED HIS OWN SUCCESSFUL PRINTING BUSINESS “EARTHSAFE PRINTING” WHICH WAS LOCATED IN KEANSBURG, NJ
MORE RECENTLY MIKE AND HIS WIFE RELOCATED TO SEBASTIAN, FL WHERE THEY BOUGHT THEIR FOREVER HOME. SOON AFTER MIKE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH STAGE FOUR CANCER, HE FOUGHT A LONG TOUGH BATTLE FOR HIS FAMILY WHOM HE LOVED WITH ALL HIS HEART. MAY HE REST PEACEFULLY AND FOREVER BE IN OUR HEARTS.
MIKE IS SURVIVED BY THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE, BEST FRIEND AND WIFE STACY BUTLER, HIS FOUR CHILDREN ANGELINA FELICIANO, DANIEL FELICIANO, BRIANNA BUTLER AND MICHAEL J BUTLER JR. HIS THREE GRANDCHILDREN DONAVIN, ANALYCE AND LILIANA. HIS LOVING MOTHER JEAN BUTLER HIS INLAWS CARLO AND EMILY PARO, HIS SIBLINGS MARYJEAN BUTLER-NICOLI (TONY), KATHLEEN MUELRATH (DAVID), WILLIAM BUTLER (YAO), SISTER-IN-LAW INGRID BUTLER MANY UNCLES, AUNTS, COUSINS, NIECES, NEPHEWS AND WONDERFUL FRIENDS.
