‘Once Upon an Orchestra’ Brings Fairy Tales to Life
Space Coast Symphony Orchestra players entertain tykes at McKee Botanical Garden
(VERO BEACH, FL) August 9, 2021 – Two enchanting stories will come to life when players from the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra present another installment of the popular Once Upon an Orchestra musical series for small fry at 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM on Saturday, August 21 at McKee Botanical Garden, 350 US Highway 1 in Vero Beach, 32962. Designed for preschool and kindergarten aged children, the 45-minute outdoor story time will feature two instruments of the string section, the violin and cello. Daniel Dorff’s “The Three Little Pigs” opens the fun-filled program, telling the familiar story while illustrating musical variations and leitmotifs, using plenty of humor and audience participation to tickle the funny bones of children and adults. The audience even helps the wolf blow the house down! An “Adventure at Granny’s” is a musical dramatization of the story, “Little Red Riding Hood.” Cello player Paul Fleury and violinist Konstantin Dmitrov will assume character roles to highlight the reading of the story. The light-hearted approach to the classic fable comes complete with the Big Bad Wolf in Granny’s nightcap and a chase through the forest. The entire program will be narrated by Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Conductor, Aaron T. Collins and will entertain and educate tots about orchestral instruments in the strings family. Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Conductor and Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins is delighted to present the Once Upon an Orchestra concerts for kids by way of delightful stories. Collins is a past recipient of the Richard A. Stark Award for cultural leadership from the Cultural Council of Indian River County.
