SCSO Presents Multimedia Program this Weekend, August 7 & 8

We are less than a few days away from our next program, Summon the Heroes . This is a concert you do not want to miss that will feature incredible music, an array of multimedia elements, a World Premiere, an awesome guest artist, and the amazing musicians of the SCSO! Please come support your orchestra this weekend!
The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra is carrying a torch for the Olympic games, presenting  Summon the Heroes  at 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 7 at the Scott Center for the Performing Arts in north Melbourne and 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 8 at Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center.
The powerful program features music written for or about the Olympics, many in the fanfare style familiar from the opening ceremonies. The Olympic selections capture the drama of sport and the spirit of competition, while archival and news footage, film clips and photos will create a true multi-media experience for the audience. The music of composer John Williams is well represented on the program, including his “Olympic Fanfare and Theme,” “Summon the Heroes,” “A Prayer for Peace from Munich” and “The Olympic Spirit.” Olympic-related works by Bill Conti, Vangelis, Josef Suk, Richard Rodgers, Leo Arnaud and Dmitri Shostakovich will also be heard on the concert, along with a world premiere of Daniel Perttu’s powerful new work, “Phoenix.”
Tenor, Bryan Hayes will join the orchestra to sing several works including One Moment in Time, You’ll Never Walk Alone , and Anthem from Chess.
Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Conductor and Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins thinks Central Florida audiences will be stirred by the music and imagery.
“You can’t help but feel pride for the athletes who have worked so hard to be the best of the best,” said Collins. “The music inspired by the Olympics is a call to come together; for support of individual excellence and the creation of a better, more peaceful future.”
We are limiting capacity to 50% to keep our patrons safe. Masks are highly recommended for this event, but not required. $30 advance tickets for adults are available through the orchestra website at SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at Marine Bank & Trust in Suntree. Tickets at the door are $35.  Summon the Heroes  is free for those aged 18 and under or with a student ID.
