Richard “Dick” J. Huber, 82, Vero Beach

December 05, 1938 – July 10, 2021

Richard “Dick” J. Huber, age 82, passed away July 10, 2021 at his home, in Vero Beach.

He was born December 5, 1938 in Manhattan, New York to Joseph and Adeline Huber.

Richard enjoyed his many years of work with the United States Postal Service as a Postal Clerk.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Huber; sons, Richard A. (Beverly) Huber, Steven A. (Vicky) Huber, Jamie (Jill) Huber, Jacob Huber, and Matthew Huber; four grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Goldstein Huber and sister, Paulette Adam and Lynn DeVito.

A Gathering will be held 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at GraceSpring Church, 1955 20th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Florida Cancer Specialist, 3730 7th Terrace, Suite 101, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Margaret Rose Simmons, 94, Vero Beach

December 14, 1926 – July 11, 2021

Margaret Rose Simmons, 94 of Vero Beach, Fla. Passed away peacefully on July 11, 2021.

She was born in Manhattan in 1926 and graduated from Cathedral High School in NYC, June 1944.

Directly out of school, she worked for the government in Washington, DC as an administrative assistant to the Chief Director of Operations in the Chemical Warfare Division of the Army. She later retired in 1973 from the Department of Defense.

She was married for 73 years to her devoted husband Charles who proceeded her in death, November 2020 at the age of 95. They had four wonderful children together.

Margaret and Charles were both long time members of Saint Helens Catholic Church in Vero Beach. They enjoyed traveling, family, friends and time at the beach.

She is survived by Christopher, Brian, Patricia and many loved grandchildren.

Elizabeth Ann (Judge) Frye, 75

May 2, 1946 – July 6, 2021

Elizabeth Ann (Judge) Frye (better known as Betty) left this world on July 6, 2021 to join our heavenly Father.  Betty was born May 2, 1946 to Lucille Tawyea (Lucille Kern) and Thomas Judge in Detroit, Michigan.

Betty was known for her robust sense of humor and deep love for her family and animals.

Betty worked most of her life in Michigan as a hairdresser, machinist and assembly worker and then moved to Florida to be closer to her family, where she retired.

The greatest achievement of her life that Betty lived for was her family and love for her animals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Frank Kern III.

Betty is survived by her daughter Dawn Steinhurst; her grandchildren Melissa Judge & husband Frank Slocum, Edward Anderson IV and Allesha Steinhurst; her great grandchildren Brianna Aronson and Brooklyn Bussard (BK); her siblings Thomas Judge & wife Jane, Robert Judge & wife Barbara, Donna Dunning and Bonnie Koskela & husband Larry; and many other loving family and friends, and her dog Precious.

Funeral Service and interment will be Friday August 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 W 10 Mile Rd., Southfield, MI 48033.

Jamie A. Fletcher, 80, Vero Beach

February 14, 1941 – July 11, 2021

Jamie A. Fletcher, 80, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Bethesda Hospital East in Boynton Beach.  Jamie was born in Bushnell, Florida and moved to Vero Beach in 1956 coming from St. Petersburg, Florida.

She was a graduate of Vero Beach High School, Class of 1959.   Jamie had worked for Maxwell Plumbing for 35 years before becoming the church secretary at the Twentieth Avenue Church of God in Vero Beach.

Survivors include her husband Joel Fletcher of 60 years, son Darrel (Stacey) Fletcher, daughters Tonya (Mark) Swearingen and Cherise Fletcher, granddaughter Jessica (Sid) Hand, grandson Joe Fletcher, granddaughter Julia (Cameron) Fletcher, granddaughter Ashley (George) Azpiri, granddaughter Courtney (Scott) Lindsey, great grandsons Brayden Barnum, Camryn Barnum and Grayson Morrison, great granddaughters Edie Lindsey and Ava Hand, brothers Donald (Mae) Austin and Glyndon (Allene) Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jamie was preceded in death by her father, Rev. A. Austin, mother Ola Mae Austin and twin sister Glenda Faye Austin.

The family will receive friends 6-8 PM, Friday, July 16,2021 at the Twentieth Avenue Church of God in Vero Beach.  A funeral service celebrating her life will begin at 10 AM, Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Twentieth Avenue Church of God with Pastor Jerry Shepherd officiating.  Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.

Rebecca Carol Whitaker, 77

September 25, 1943 – July 8, 2021

Mrs. Rebecca Carol Whitaker known to her friends and family as Carol, 77, died July 8, 2021 at Rockledge Regional Medical Center in Rockledge, Florida after a brief illness.

She was born in Troy, North Carolina to the late Van Harris and Maxine Gillis Harris.

Carol worked for many years as a laboratory and X-ray technician for Alastair Kennedy, M.D. until her retirement.

Survivors include her son, James Whitaker; granddaughter, Josephine Lynne Whitaker; two sisters, Sara Wallace and Sue Watkins, and many friends and former colleagues that will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Whitaker and one son, Joey Whitaker.

Memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s name to the charity of one’s choice.

At the request of the family services will be private.

Lois Elizabeth Laudeman, 83, Barefoot Bay

September 02, 1937 – July 10, 2021

Lois Elizabeth Laudeman, 83, of Barefoot Bay, FL, joined the Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2021.

She was born in Bronx, NY on September 2, 1937 to the late Frank and Helen Tyra. Later the family moved to Linden, NJ where Lois graduated from Linden High School. She met her husband, Donald Laudeman and they married in 1956. They had 2 children, a son, Donald and a daughter, Susan. They lived in the Linden area until relocating to Lake Telemark, NJ where they lived until their retirement in 1998. They spent their retirement years in Barefoot Bay, FL.

Lois worked at Integrated Electronics where she started as a line worker, then moved her way up to manager, then finally Assistant to the President.

She was very social, always joining in events such as dances, dinners or charity events at the Lake Telemark Clubhouse. She also enjoyed bowling, horseshoes and cards. She was active in her church, including teaching Sunday School and working as the church secretary. She and her husband loved taking trips to places like Bonaire or Bermuda with their extensive network of friends.

Family was an important part of her life. She showed her love by doing – cooking, sewing, crocheting and creating. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, always planning some fun adventure or activity. She loved to travel with her family. She enjoyed numerous family trips to Wildwood, NJ, Boston, MA and Aruba.  

In her retirement she immersed herself in her new community through church, the Barefoot Bay Community and the Local Moose. She spent her time taking cruises with her husband, going out to dinner, playing darts and Texas Hold’em.

Lois was a smart, loving, generous and feisty woman. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be missed by many.

She leaves behind her daughter, Susan and husband Alan; grandchildren Jason, Megan, Samuel, Noah; great grandchildren Carmelo and Cruz; daughter-in-law Valerie; brother Frank and his wife Maria; sister Joan and her husband George; brother Robert and his wife Carol; brother William and his wife Carminda; brother Raymond and his wife Marge; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Donald Laudeman, Sr. and her son, Donald Laudeman, Jr.
