EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION OPEN FOR THE SECOND ANNUAL VETERANS COUNCIL CLAY SHOOT

By Michele Peters

(VERO BEACH, FL) The Veterans Council of Indian River County is excited to host its second annual clay shoot on October 16, 2021 at Vero Beach Clay Shooting Sports located at 5925 82nd Avenue in Vero Beach.

Early Bird Registration is $125pp or $500 per foursome, registration increases to $150pp or $600 per foursome after August 31st.  The clay shoot event starts at 8:00 a.m. with a safety briefing. Registration includes breakfast sponsored by Chick-fil-a, lunch by Wild Thyme Catering, sporting clays, golf cart, event t-shirt, awards and loads of fun.  Participants must provide their own guns, shells, eye and ear safety equipment. Shells are available for purchase and guns are available for rent at the range on a first come first served basis.

Proceeds from the clay shoot support veterans’ programs which provide direct aid for veterans and veteran families in need. There are more than 25,000 veterans and family members who reside in Indian River County.

“We hosted the first annual clay shoot last year in the midst of the covid pandemic where attendees could gather outdoors, remain socially distant, have fun and still support the veterans’ causes they believe in.  Through the oversold success of this event last year and the generosity of our community, we never shut our doors, we continued to serve all veterans in need without interruption” said Veterans Council Executive Director Jim Romanek.

The Veterans Council’s Upward American Veterans program provides emergency basic living financial support to qualified honorably discharged US veterans and their families.  During the pandemic the council saw a sharp increase in the number of local veterans out of work and in need of basic living resources.  The council was able to help with food insecurity, utility payments, rent payments, and even provided face masks, gloves and toilet paper.

In addition to participating in the clay shoot, sponsoring the event is an excellent way to show the community your support for our military veterans. Sponsors receive clay shoot registrations, logo placement, website and social media recognition, and more.
