David Merle Hull, 83, Vero Beach

February 14, 1938 – June 24, 2021

Dave was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio, and passed away June 24th, 2021, Hobe Sound, Florida. Dave grew up in Columbus, Ohio and went to Central High School of Columbus where he had the nickname of Slick. October 16th, 1960, he married Carolyn Catchpole whom he met at the downtown Lazarus when they were young adults. He would say he was always thirsty so that he could go to the water fountain to see this cute girl in the COD department. His main career was that of a kitchen remodeler for the Jae Company Kitchen and Bath.  Dave was a Freemasonry with the Neoacacia Masonic Lodge #595. Dave lived in the Columbus area until he and Carolyn retired permanently to Vero Beach, Florida.

Dave was a tinkerer always working on some type of construction project; a teacher to his two sons imbibing in them their construction abilities, strong work ethics; and an active Christian. He attended the Linden Church of Christ and Sunbury Christian in Ohio and later the Vero Beach Christian Church in Florida.  Dave had an ornery sense of humor, enjoyed a good meal especially a key lime pie. Traveled to many places in the world with his wife and friends. He was never shy to share stories of his good days or his bad ones. Over many years he had a strong strength to overcome many health obstacles but has finally given his life over to God. May he rest in peace.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Manford and Clemenza Hull. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Catchpole Hull, sister Marilyn Hull Hines and brother Douglas Hull. As well as his children Jeff and Trudi (daughter-in-law) Hull, Craig and Kathy (daughter-in-law) and grandchildren: Grant, Sydney, Madeline and Cameron Hull.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at Vero Christian Church, 3:00 PM, July 15, 2021.  Contributions may be made to TC Hospice TreasureHealth.org

Trevor Henry Smith, 81, Vero Beach

June 05, 1940 – June 20, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Trevor Henry Smith (Vero Beach, Florida), born 6-5-1940, in Leeds, England. Trevor and family moved to Toronto, Canada at the age of 17, where he met and married Phyllis (nee Thomas) and had 3 children; Jeff. Cindy, and Lisa.

In 1968, the family moved to Vero Beach, Florida, where he worked at Colkitt Sheet Metal and Air-Conditioning. They eventually took over A to Z Rental from his retiring parents, then changed the name to Vero Rental Center. After many successful years, they closed up shop and proceeded to work together at The Driftwood Inn, with Phyllis running the front desk, and he was head of maintenance.

They later retired together, to further devote time to their church and family. Trevor was always putting the ‘family first’ and was loved by all who knew him. He was a great father, grandfather, great grandfather, neighbor, and friend.

He loved all sports, and at one time was the oldest active amateur jai-alai player in the state. He enjoyed hanging out at Cindy’s, for many family gatherings with great food. In his later years, he and Lisa (Lucky) would often be spotted at the local arcades together.

He attended Safe Haven Ministries, where he often provided a free ride to and from church. Trevor was preceded in death by his parents; Clement and Doris Smith, sisters Brenda and Rita Smith, and his beloved wife, Phyllis. He is survived by his family; son Jeff (Julie) and daughters Cindy (Aaron) and Lisa, plus his grandchildren; Justin.

Daisy fought a brave battle with Parkinsons over the past eleven years and she faced her diagnosis with dignity and courage, refusing to let each new stage as her progressed illness keep her from enjoying life. Her strength and determination was admired by all who saw the obstacles she faced each day.

Daisy reunites with her devoted husband Gary, whose passing less than 2 months prior left her heartbroken and lost. True soulmates and so connected at the heart, one could not survive without the other. Married 55 years, they first met at the ages of nine and ten and later began dating in high school. They married soon after graduation and so began a love story like no other. This is not the end of their story, as it will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved this amazing couple.

Daisy will be so missed by all who knew her, but especially by her children and grandchildren. There is an emptiness that will forever remain in our lives without you here, Daisy. We will love you and miss you everyday and try to live up to the example you set for us everyday of your life.

A memorial service is being planned for August with details to follow. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in Daisy’s name be made to the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida for their exemplary care of Daisy and her children in her final days.
