In Philadelphia, Pa. on June 6, 1931, John A. Nardontonia was the first son born to Donato and Rose, his parents who immigrated from the Abruzzo region of Italy.

John joined the Navy and served as a radar technician flying all over the world and their electronics instructor during the Korean War. He was stationed at Hickam Airforce base, Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii where he met the love of his life, Patricia May Klasic who was also serving in the Navy. Their union lasted over 66 loving years. After their service, they moved back mainland to the east coast near family in New Jersey. John graduated from Drexel University with an Engineering degree. He was one of the lead engineers to develop what we call today, ”cable “ while working for Jerrold Electronics in Philadelphia, Pa. He also invented an electronic diagnostic and troubleshooting technology that is still used today. John was one of the industry leaders who founded the Penna. Burglar and Fire Alarm Association setting standards and regulations for all companies to adhere to when working in the state.

He moved his growing family to York, Pa. in 1970 to become the VP of YorkLite Electronics designing control equipment for the alarm system manufacturing industry. After a short while, with the support of his wife, they started their own company, JAN Associates, Inc. and Universal Telecommunications, Inc. John was a well respected, successful businessman actively involved in the community, his church, St Patrick’s, and loved singing with the Harrisburg chapter of the Barbershop Society. After selling their company, John and Pat retired to Florida. He stayed busy fishing, boating, traveling, playing poker, entertaining family and enjoying a good cigar with his sons, neighbors and many friends.

John will be eternally loved and missed by his wife, 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren who are scattered all over the east coast of the U.S., his siblings and extended family in Bucchianico, Italy. He is remembered by the many names his children and grandchildren called him; “The Thinking Man, the Fix-It Man, Poppy Loppy, Pop, Dad, Big Dog, and Johnny.” He will never be forgotten, but missed dearly by all who knew him. He was a very special person to many.
