INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — County officials have extended the mandatory burn ban for another week in an effort to prevent uncontrollable wildfires.

The burn ban was extended to 8 a.m. June 12, county officials said. The ban – which effects residents west of Interstate 95 – prohibits all outdoor burning not authorized by the Florida Forest Service.

This includes bonfires, campfires and the burning of yard debris. The ban, implemented on May 28, was originally set to expire June 5.
