Treasure Coast Jazz is back in the swing

Treasure Coast Jazz is back in the Swing of things. Their Board has reorganized and is getting ready for the 2022 Season… Like so many nonprofits TCJazz had to cancel their concerts and fundraisers in 2021, however the board is proud to announce that they are planning a full season of five concerts.

The board consists of President Suzie Cagwin, Vice President Tom Butts, Treasurer Arleen Geraghty, Recording Secretary Lynn Di Menna, Corresponding Secretary Lori Maddox, Music Director Roy Daniels, Asst. Music Director Harry Poole, Scholarship Chair Burr Wishart, Ad/PR Chair Sharon Bastide. This team of professionals will lead the charge to Swing into 2022 with concerts at the Vero Beach Yacht Club on Saturday afternoons.

The Treasure Coast Jazz Society was founded in 1986 by Ash Andon, Harry Buck and Chubby Jackson. We are a not-for-profit organization formed to encourage the performance, promotion and preservation of JAZZ — this unique American art form. Jazz has been recognized by the United States Congress as a “National Treasure.”

Objectives

  • To foster and expand a greater awareness of this great American art form by bringing the finest national and international jazz musicians to the Treasure Coast for our concerts.
  • To encourage young musicians who will ultimately carry the jazz tradition to future generations. To do this, the Society donates significant financial scholarship aid to talented local high school jazz musicians for continued study at the college or university level. In the past 30 years over $145,000 has been given out.
  • To collaborate with other jazz-oriented groups, locally and nationally, to exchange information and assistance for the appreciation, growth and perpetuation of jazz music. Among the well-known persons that have appeared at our concerts are such names as the Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Woody Herman orchestras and smaller groups featuring Ken Peplowski, Harry Allen, Rossano Sportiello, Doc Grober and Johnny Varro.
