Afternoon update, April 27, 2021

Indian River County verified 18 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, along with one new death, according to the Florida Department of Health county report. This raises the total number of county cases to 12,355, while the death toll increased to 294.

The numbers in the reports are provisional and subject to change. Health officials said 122 out of the 294 Indian River County deaths were at long-term care facilities.

There have been 863 COVID-19 hospitalizations in Indian River County, health officials said. The number of hospitalizations and county cases are both cumulative.

For the Indian River County cases among residents, 8,447 were white, 1,223 were black, 1,108 were listed as “other” and 1,467 were listed as “unknown.”

Statewide, the number of COVID-19 cases increased to 2,217,368, health officials said. The number of virus-related deaths increased to 35,646.

Indian River County verified 16 new COVID-19 cases Monday, according to the Florida Department of Health county report. This raises the total number of county cases to 12,340, while the death toll remained at 293.

The numbers in the reports are provisional and subject to change. Health officials said 122 out of the 293 Indian River County deaths were at long-term care facilities.

There have been 860 COVID-19 hospitalizations in Indian River County, health officials said. The number of hospitalizations and county cases are both cumulative.

For the Indian River County cases among residents, 8,438 were white, 1,223 were black, 1,104 were listed as “other” and 1,465 were listed as “unknown.”

Statewide, the number of COVID-19 cases increased to 2,212,097, health officials said. The number of virus-related deaths increased to 35,600.
