FELLSMERE — Firefighters have fully contained a 52-acre brushfire that they said was endangering six structures Wednesday afternoon, according to the Florida Forest Service.
The wildfire ignited about 3 p.m. near the 14700 block of 89th Street in Fellsmere, north of County Road 512, Forest Service officials said. The fire, which initially began at 10 acres, is in a wooded area between 89th and 91st streets, according to Fellsmere police.

The blaze – which sent billows of smoke toward the sky – was fully contained by 4:30 p.m.
State fire crews have three dozers on scene, Forest Service officials said. County firefighters were also at the site helping to knock down the flames.
