Woman, baby hurt after vehicle rolls over multiple times on I-95

FELLSMERE — A 21-year-old woman and her baby were hurt after a vehicle they were traveling in overturned several times Wednesday along Interstate 95, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

The single-vehicle rollover happened about 3 p.m. on northbound I-95 near mile marker 157, FHP spokesman Lt. Yanko Reyes said. Reyes said the woman – from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – was driving a 2014 tan Lexus Sedan when she lost control of the vehicle and swerved to the right.

The Sedan then overturned multiple times and landed on its roof on the grass shoulder.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, Reyes said. The woman’s daughter, a girl between 1 and 2 years old, had minor injuries.

The girl was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach as a precaution, Reyes said. All northbound lanes on I-95 were briefly blocked from the wreck, but have since reopened.

No further details were immediately available.
