Riverside Theatre for Kids Announces Performances at Vero Beach Outlets

(Vero Beach, FL) Riverside Theatre for Kids announces two FREE performances of Legally Blonde The Musical JR. taking place at a specially designated outdoor section at the Vero Beach Outlets on Saturday, March 27th at 11:30 am and 2pm.

Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash motion picture, Legally Blonde The Musical JR. is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. The show’s instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit and sass – leaving cast members and audiences alike seeing pink!

“We are thrilled to still be providing opportunities for our cast to perform despite the many challenges facing all of us,” said Kevin Quillinan, Director of Education at Riverside Theatre. “It’s nice to share such an uplifting show and we are grateful to our partner, the Vero Beach Outlets, for supporting us and our amazing students.”

“Along with great shopping and unbeatable deals, Vero Beach Outlets works to connect community by offering visitors a calendar filled with unique events and memorable experiences,” said Vero Beach Outlets Marketing Coordinator Beth Hager.  “Our long-standing relationship with Riverside Theatre is testament of our neighborhood partner philosophy and we look forward to watching their talented cast of young actors perform at the center later this month.”

Legally Blonde The Musical JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle’s boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she’s not “serious” enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren’t mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.

“This project has taken different turns this year,” said Mr. Quillinan. “We would have performed this show at the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta this past January, but when the in-person event was cancelled, we wanted to find a way to perform. Much like Elle Woods, we wanted to rise to our challenges and think outside the box. Fortunately, the Vero Beach Outlets gave us a unique way to safely present the show in an environment surprisingly well suited for Elle Woods and her interests – a mall!”

Featuring 33 student performers, Legally Blonde The Musical JR. is directed by Kevin Quillinan with musical direction by Deborah Quillinan. Student Choreographers are: Kelsey Albrecht, Kristina Gregg, Catie Lincoln, Emily Olsson, and Kaitlin Simmons. The sound engineer is Nate Dickson with the stage crew of Dan Kondas and Emily Luongo.

Vero Beach Outlets, Riverside Theatre’s partner for these performances, has designated an outdoor section in the parking area where a stage will be set up and chairs placed.

No tickets are required for the free outdoor shows on March 27th at 11:30am and 2pm, but Covid-19 safety protocols will be followed, including social distancing and the wearing of masks in the designated area.

Vero Beach Outlets is located at 1824 94th Drive, Vero Beach, FL 32966 where guests will find the Legally Blonde The Musical JR. stage near Williams Sonoma Outlet.
