Central Beach location enhances appeal of luxurious townhome

The two-story townhome at 775 Bougainvillea Lane in Vero Beach Estates is a little slice of heaven. One of four units located just a block from the beach, the home’s location is just far enough off the beaten path to make the most of the peace and solitude found under the street’s charming oak canopy, but near enough to easily take advantage of Ocean Drive’s walkable coastal lifestyle.

The townhome can be accessed through the handsome wooden door on the front facade for more formal visits. Neighbors dropping by for a cup of tea may choose to enter through courtyard gates that are tucked beneath an ivy-covered arbor in the center of the wall at the property’s front and back.

The townhome was already “perfect” when they purchased it, say owners Lindsay Webbe and Anne Ekstrom, but they decided they wanted to have a little fun with some updates anyway.
They began their “fun” updates in the courtyard where Rock City Gardens general manager Wade Baxley designed and executed a magical space in which a dolphin fountain flows into a splash pool amid walls covered with verdant greenery.

There are three, covered outdoor spaces where you can hide from the sun or watch a summer rainstorm and several uncovered seating areas so that guests can spread out into intimate groups on cool winter evenings.

The front door opens into a formal foyer, one of the changes Webbe and Ekstrom made when they bought the townhouse, says Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty agent Dan Downey.

Impeccable finishes and great attention to detail, such as hardwood floors, a beamed ceiling and French doors, were further enhanced under the discerning guidance of Loggia Home & Garden owner and interior designer Sandra How.

The open floorplan creates a light and clean space that emulates the feel of single-family detached homes due to the expansive layout and the private courtyard. The townhome was designed to create a comfortable and stylish living experience.

The formal living room is situated at the front of the house, with two seating areas and built-ins embracing an electric fireplace that creates a sense of warm welcome as soon as you enter the home.

Heading down the central hallway, the chef’s kitchen sits opposite the formal dining room. The island kitchen is equipped with high-end appliances and a beverage refrigerator. Just across the way, a pair of French doors with sliding screens open into the garden, allowing you to make the most of indoor-outdoor living.

Further down the hallway, a powder room is at the ready for guests and for use as a pool bath. Steps away, a staircase and elevator lead to the bedrooms on the second floor. The entrance to the air-conditioned, two-car garage is located at the end of the central hallway. The garage is reached via a dead-end roadway, keeping your comings and goings private.

Upstairs, a screened balcony and laundry sit just off the second-floor landing and serve as a buffer between the owner’s suite at the rear of the house and the guest wing at the front.

The owner’s bathroom is a study in elegance with a walk-in shower, jetted tub, dimmable lighted mirrors, and a Toto Washlet toilet and electronic bidet tucked behind a privacy panel.

Two ensuite guest or children’s bedrooms share a private sitting room and office in the guest wing allowing for total anonymity from the rest of the house.

The private sitting room and office provide a great deal of flexibility with the spaces. The office has a closet so that it could be used as a fourth bedroom, and the upstairs sitting room would make the perfect game room or library with views of the courtyard.

“We hope that the next owners will be as happy with this unique property as we have been,” say Webbe and Ekstrom as they reflect on their time on Bougainvillea Lane.

“It’s very low maintenance here,” notes Downey. “You can lock it and leave and then come back, and it’s going to be in the same condition,”

Vero Beach Estates is located in the Central Beach area within walking distance of a guarded public beach, Humiston Park, the farmer’s market, shopping and dining. Seasonal live concerts and parades are easily reached by golf cart, on foot or by bicycle, and the Vero Beach Museum of Art, Riverside Park and Riverside Theatre are nearby.
