Wanda E. Wood, 80

March 13, 1940 – February 14, 2021

Wanda E. Wood 80 passed away on February 14th 2021 after lengthily illness.

She is preceded in death by her husband Roland S. Wood, her parents James Coleman and Myrtle Coleman and brother Richard Coleman.

She is survived by three daughters, Coral Ann Tischbin (Bill), Vickie Peyssard (Lee), Lisa Thatcher (Jim). Five grandchildren Andrea Lingerfelt, Kyle Thatcher, Alix Rairden (Ian), Jamie Mugan (Brian) and William Tischbin Jr. (Alix) and three great grandchildren Nikkii Turner, Nolan Rairden and Elliott Rairden. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother. James Coleman, Geraldine Morgan and Glenda Milam.

She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt. She was very close and best friends with her sister Glenda.

She enjoyed crafts especially beading and painting.

She was retired from the City of Vero Beach.

The memorial service will be at Strunk Funeral Home, February 26th 2021 at 1:00 PM.

Robert “Bob” Ragon, 85, Vero Beach

February 3, 1936 – February 12, 2021

Robert “Bob” Ragon passed away on February 12, 2021, in Vero Beach, Florida. Bob was born on February 3, 1936, in Joliet, Illinois.

He grew up in the Chicago area.

Bob was a military veteran, and a preacher and missionary in service to Jesus.

He lived his later years in Vero Beach and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marina, his sister, Nancy Jockers, three sons, Steve Ragon, Darren Ragon, Garryk Ragon, and one daughter, Carry Wells.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Mission Fund of the Vero Beach Church of Christ, 3306 20th St., Vero Beach, FL, 32960, to be designated for the mission work in India.

Timothy Patrick Johnson, 76, Vero Beach

March 30, 1944 – February 9, 2021

Timothy Patrick Johnson, 76, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021 at the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Medical Center. His children were at his side.

Tim was born in Taft, California on March 30, 1944, the oldest son and first child of Earl “Johny” Johnson and Mary Curran Johnson. He was raised in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Westchester and was a 1962 graduate of St. Bernard’s High School.

Tim attended Santa Monica Community College before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1964. Initially, he was stationed in Alamogordo, New Mexico and then served in Vietnam from 1965-1966 before heading to George Air Force Base in Victorville, California. Following his time in the service, he returned to LA  where he married and attended Loyola Marymount University.

Tim received a Business Administration degree from LMU in 1970. Later, he moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where he spent the next 30 years working in the purchasing department at the Hawaiian Electric Company, and raising his three children.

In 2001, he and his wife of 30 years, Lynda Lee Johnson, moved to Paso Robles, California to be close to family. They settled in Vero Beach in 2012 where they enjoyed golf, travel, grandchildren and many friends.

Tim is survived by his children: Tracy Johnson Cota (Robert Cota) of Redondo Beach, California; Michael Curran Johnson (Tia Jones Johnson) of Severna Park, Maryland, and Kathleen Erin Leake (Michael Leake) of Lakeland, Florida. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren: Deacon Lee Olsen; Maile Jones Johnson; Elle Rose Johnson; Shayla Kiana Cota; Josephine Noelani Olsen; Finn Keahua Cota; Harrison Timothy Leake; and Oliver Patrick Leake. He was predeceased by his wife, Lynda who died in 2015.

A virtual service will be held Saturday, Feb. 20. The family hopes to make arrangements for an in-person service later this year.

Arrangements have been provided by Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.

Paul Eugene Barkwell, 75, Vero Beach

July 13, 1945 – January 07, 2021

Paul Eugene Barkwell, 75, passed away on January 7, 2021 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach after an arduous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Gene, as he was most commonly known, was born and raised in Vero Beach and even though he traveled the world he always considered Vero Beach home and knew it was where he ultimately wanted to be. He was an ambitious hard-working man who had many successful business ventures and personal accomplishments. He was an avid reader and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He was a member of Pillar Community Church in Vero Beach and volunteered to work with boys in Big Brothers of America. He was a mentor and good friend to so many.

Gene was preceded in death by his father Paul Barkwell, mother Ollie Barkwell, his youngest brother Jason Barkwell and his wife and partner Cheryl Smith Barkwell. He is survived by his son John Paul Barkwell, Granddaughters Amanda Barkwell Saul and Alyssa Teagan Barkwell of Orange County, CA; his siblings Joyce Barkwell McCall, John Barkwell, Janet Barkwell Lyons, Joan Barkwell Rooney and Jeffrey Barkwell all of Vero Beach, along with too many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and associates to be named here. We will miss him, his love, adventurous storytelling and fishing stories.

A small family memorial service will be held with a life celebration to be scheduled at a later date. As all who knew him, he was a true animal person and especially loved his Labrador Retrievers. Raymond Johnson, 92, Barefoot Bay

January 20, 1929 – February 10, 2021

Raymond H Johnson 92, of Barefoot Bay, Florida and Seabrook, New Hampshire, died on February 10, 2021 in Florida.  He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on January 20, 1929, to William H. and Irene (McAllister) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson retired as the Chief of the Lawrence, Massachusetts Fire Department and was the last Alderman of Public Safety in Lawrence and was the only firefighter to ever be elected to that position.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He leaves his wife of 70 years, Janet (LaBrecque) Johnson, his daughter Deborah (Michael) Petteruti of Charleston SC, and his son Richard of Boston.  He was predeceased by his son Steven as well as his brothers William, Gerald, George and Warren, and his sister Elizabeth Butler.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
