Donna E. Rychel, 93, Vero Beach

March 08, 1927 – January 10, 2021

Donna Elizabeth Rychel, age 93, died January 10, 2021 at home in Vero Beach, FL.

She was born March 8, 1927 in Saginaw, MI to the late Andrew Eschenbacher and Elizabeth Kratochvil.

Donna was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School. She earned her Nursing degree in Saginaw.

She had worked as an LPN in hospitals in Saginaw and later as an administrative assistant in the Saginaw County Mental Health Unit on education programs for those with disabilities.  Donna retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan.

She moved to Vero Beach in 1987 and was a member of Living Lord Lutheran Church, Vero Beach.

Donna was an avid golfer and champion bridge player in the Vero community.

She is survived by her son, Leland (Jan) Rychel; grandchildren, Jason (Angela) Rychel, Scott (Amber) Rychel, and Jennifer (Casey) Farmer; and five grandchildren.

Donna was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, James Rychel, in 2018; sisters, Doris Frederick and Denise Hinson; and great-grandson, Isaac.

Donna and Jim loved life. They enjoyed dancing, golfing, and spending time relaxing in the sun at the beach. Visits from family were a special treat they always looked forward to. Prior to moving to Florida, they could be found camped in the many state parks in Northern Michigan.

John “Gerry” Gerald McCoy, 92

Mr. John Gerald McCoy, 92, died January 11, 2021 at Rosewood Manor in Vero Beach, Florida.

Gerry was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army having earned the following:

World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), United Nations Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Civil Actions Medal (1st Class), 2 Overseas Bars, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Palm, Meritorious Unit Citation (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), his final service to our country concluded being a civilian at Patrick Air Force Base.

Survivors include his daughter, Rosana Perez of Fellsmere; son, Hermit Mccoy, granddaughters, Jovana, Jessica and Roxanna; grandson, Jose Perez Jr.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Enriqueta Guevara McCoy who died in 2018.

Visitation will be held 11:00 AM  – 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Strunk Funeral Home, 1623 North Central Avenue, Sebastian, Florida 32958. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Sebastian Cemetery, 1921 North Central Avenue, Sebastian, Florida 32958 with Father Sparks, celebrant. Military Honors will be conducted by the Sebastian Area Veterans’ Honor Guard.
