Jonathan W. Levi, 58, Vero Beach

April 28, 1962 – January 02, 2021

It is with great sadness (and happiness) that we announce the loss of Jonathan Wayne Levi, 58, to lung cancer on Saturday morning, January 2nd, 2021, where he passed away in the care of his brother, and the Vero Beach, Florida, Hospice House.

We are sad because we mourn the loss of an immensely devoted son, a supporter of good causes, a great brother, an excellent Uncle, and a wonderful friend to all, especially cats of all sizes, shapes and conditions.

But we are happy because his battle, as potent as it was, was fairly brief. He is thus out of pain, at peace, and we are sure, far happier with the many loved ones he is now with.

Jon was born and raised in New York City, where he earned his GED and began his lifelong love of technology. He joined the Navy, serving with the Submarine Service on fast-attack subs during the Iraq war, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer, First Class.

After his seven years of Navy service, he studied Computer Science at the University of Central Florida, and thereafter, joined his parents in Vero Beach, diligently and joyously looking after their every need and want from beginning to end: it would be hard to find a more devoted son.

Jon was a consummate investigator of all things tech, devoting enormous energy to his pursuit of knowledgeable excellence in service of his career as a computer consultant, running his own company in the Vero community for decades.

A lifelong Unitarian Universalist, Jon was active in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach, which he loved dearly, and volunteered for extensively.

His favorite shirt said, “God Bless the Whole Planet. No Exceptions”.

He is survived by his brothers, Jeffrey Levi of Santa Monica, California, Ned Cox III of Montreal, Canada, his nieces and nephews, and his most dear friend, Carol Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to VNA Hospice House, Habitat for Humanity, any organization that supports Veterans, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach, Florida, an animal shelter, or any other charity that is meaningful to you.

He would want you all to take care of each other, do good things and have a happy life.

He will be missed.
