Coronavirus in IRC – 45 new cases Thurs, no new deaths

Indian River County added 45 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, according to the Florida Department of Health. This raises the total amount of county cases to 5,417, while the death toll remained at 143.

Health officials said 71 out of the 143 Indian River County deaths were at long-term care facilities.

There have been 460 COVID-19 hospitalizations in Indian River County, health officials said. The number of hospitalizations and county cases are both cumulative.

There were 17 people still hospitalized as of Thursday, according to the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.

For the Indian River County cases among residents, 3,482 were white, 553 were black, 438 were listed as “other” and 892 were listed as “unknown.”

Details on the total amount of tests conducted in Indian River County were not immediately available.

Statewide, the number of virus cases increased to 1,094,697. The number of virus deaths among residents and non-residents increased to 19,851.

Indian River County added 38 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, according to the Florida Department of Health. This raises the total amount of county cases to 5,372, while the death toll remained at 143.
