Marvin Liss, 73, Vero Beach

Marvin “Marv” Liss, 73, of Vero Beach passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020. He was first diagnosed in 2013 with cancer, but lost this hard fought battle, after a fourth diagnosis this year. Marv was a true fighter. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on Feb. 23, 1947, to David and Estelle Liss who were both from Poland, but met in the States.

The Liss Family moved to North Miami Beach in 1955 and Marv graduated from North Miami Senior High. He worked for Publix in a managerial capacity for many years until a back injury sidelined him. Newly divorced, Marv made the move to Vero Beach Jan. 1, 1973, and took a position as salesman at Gallery of Furniture, a job offered to him by Bill LaFevers.

Marv later went to work as the package store manager at Big Daddy’s, and that is where he met his future wife, Linda, as he was one of her Press-Journal advertising accounts. They married in 1975. Marv went into the insurance business and did very well, winning many conventions and awards.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; son, David Liss, and his wife, Cindy; grandson, Brandon and numerous wonderful friends.

In an effort to help others, and with the assistance of Cox-Gifford Seawinds funeral home, Marv will go to the University of Florida Anatomical Research Department. There are no services currently scheduled. If you would like to honor Marv, donations can be made in his memory to the charity of your choice or to the VNA Hospice of Indian River County at 1110 35th Lane  Vero Beach, Fl 32960.
