Riverside Theatre for Kids announces new dance classes

Riverside Theatre For Kids announces new Musical Theatre Dance Classes designed for help young performers to help with their musical theatre training.

“I am just super excited that we finally have figured out a way to capture the interest of our theatre students,” says Adam Schnell, Director of Dance Education. “These young performers have been wanting to get more dance, but might have been intimidated by the main program or couldn’t because of rehearsal schedules.”

The classes focus on Jazz, Tap and Classical dance styles to help in musical theatre performance.

“These classes are great for kids that are a little older who want to dance but didn’t start when they were younger.

Class details are as follows:

Jazz for Musical Theatre – Recommended for ages 10 and up – Saturdays 9 – 10 a.m.

This open level class will explore the fundamentals of jazz technique, which is integral to the success of any musical theatre performer.

Classic Musical Theatre Choreography – Recommended for ages 10 and up – Saturdays 10 – 11 a.m.

This open level class will allow students to explore choreography from the musical theatre canon in depth. A must for aspiring performers or those who simply want to have fun learning stellar choreography. Participation in at least one other dance class is required for registration.

Tap for Musical Theatre – Recommended for ages 10 and up – Saturdays 11 a.m. – Noon

This open level class will explore the fundamentals of tap technique, which is the integral to the success of any musical theatre performer.

“This is the great thing about having such a large faculty, options,” says Mr. Schnell.

A scholarship program to provide financial assistance is available to qualifying students.
