GIFFORD — A man was seriously injured after being shot several times Monday night, fire rescue crews said.
The shooting happened about 11 p.m. at the Victory Park Apartments in the 3900 block of Lincoln Drive, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The man was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with multiple gunshot wounds, Kofke said.
It was unclear if a suspect was in custody.
Two Indian River County sheriff’s crime scene vans and at least six patrol vehicles were at the complex after midnight. Deputies used a K-9 dog to comb for evidence at the scene.
Crime scene tape roped off part of the parking lot and several apartment units. It was unclear how long the sheriff’s office would be at the tree-lined community.
The shooting remains under investigation.
