Loretta M. Davies, 91, Vero Beach
Loretta M. Davies, 91, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sept. 5, 2020. She was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved from New York State to Vero Beach.
Loretta taught wellness through exercise for 25-plus years. She was a member of numerous organizations and clubs.
Loretta is survived by her sons, Nick Davies, Guy Davies, Matthew Davies, and Anthony Davies; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Davies and daughter, Monica.
Jesus Pena-Cerda, 73, Vero Beach
Jesus Pena-Cerda, 73, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sept. 13, 2020, in Vero Beach. He was born in Michoacán, Mexico, and lived in Vero Beach coming from Fellsmere.
He retired from the agricultural industry.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission, in Fellsmere.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ofelia Garcia de Pena; sons, Jose G. Pena (Mary), of Vero Beach, and Jorge Pena, of Vero Beach; daughter, Maribel Garibay (Eduardo), of Fellsmere; grandson, Danny Garibay; granddaughters, Alieen Garibay and Brianna Garibay; brothers, Ramon Pena, Luis Pena and Gonzalo Pena; and sisters, Esperanza Pena and Guadalupe Pena.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Miguel Pena; and sister, Maria Pena.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Strunk Funeral Home, 1623 North Central Avenue, Sebastian, with a Graveside Service to follow at the Sebastian Cemetery, Sebastian, with Father Sabas Mallya, celebrant.
Frank William Pope, 88, Vero Beach
Frank William Pope, 88, of Vero Beach passed from this life on Sept. 12, 2020, at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.
Frank was born on March 7, 1932, in Inwood, Long Island, N.Y.
He was the son of Edward and Virginia Pope. He was a graduate of Lawrence High School.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. Before retiring to Vero Beach, he had a 20 year career in law enforcement in Nassau County, New York.
Frank was an avid golfer and member of NE County Men’s Gold League. He enjoyed singing in the Vero Beach Choral Society and was a longtime member of the Vero Beach Theatre Guild.
Frank was full of life, always ready with a joke or funny story and always wanted to make sure everybody had a good time.
He was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
Frank had a very happy marriage of 64 years to Antionette. They were married in 1955 in Rockville Centre, New York.
He is survived by his wife, Antionette, his son, Kenneth Pope of North Palm Beach, and his daughter Karen Echeverria (Roman). His devoted granddaughters are Amanda Brown (Daniel), Alexandra Woods and Aimee Echeverria, all of Vero Beach. His two great-granddaughters, Haley and Jordan Brown will miss him as will all who had the opportunity to know him.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
