INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A man was taken to a trauma center Friday after accidentally shooting himself in the hand at a gun range, a sheriff’s report shows.
Indian River County Fire Rescue crews responded to reports of a shooting incident about 1:30 p.m. at Indian River Shooting Sports club, 5925 82nd Avenue, Vero Beach. The man shot himself in the hand with a Beretta firearm, reports show.
First responders put a tourniquet on the man to stop the bleeding, officials said. Fire rescue crews took the man by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries, reports show.
An update on the man’s condition was not immediately available.
