VERO BEACH — A man in his 20’s was seriously injured after being shot in the leg early Monday, fire rescue crews said.
The shooting happened shortly before 10 a.m. Monday in the 2000 block of 11th Avenue, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The man was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, Kofke said.

Vero Beach police are investigating the shooting. The area is two blocks north of the police department.
Police put up crime scene tape in a parking lot near a Metro by T-Mobile store, the Taj Mahal Masala Indian Restaurant and the Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy. Officers were seen talking to witnesses in the area.
There were no arrests made by Monday afternoon, police said.
