Emma Louise Burnett, Sebastian

Emma Louise Burnett passed at her home in Sebastian, on June 11, 2020, due to a medical event.

Emma lived in Sebastian for the past two years with her partner, Teresa Horldt, along with their pets.

Emma leaves behind a sister, Glenda Dobbs, who resides in Houston, Texas; a brother, Ned Lowe, who resides in Seattle, Wash. Emma also has a sister-in-law, Betty Camache, who resides in Deland, Fla.

Emma worked for Goodwill while living in Sebastian and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.  Most recently she worked for Big Lots in Vero Beach.

Emma was an active member at Club Sebastian and was well known in the community for her willingness to help others.

Emma had the unique gift of being able to make positive and lasting relationships, through her joy for life, her music, and her love of GOD.

Emma lived in Melbourne, Fla., for many years and was an active member of Recovery Groups and organizations, she enjoyed her work in service and sponsored others.

She has been a member of Crossroads United Church of Christ in Melbourne for the last five years.

The church will be honoring Emma’s life at small service on June twenty- first at Crossroads United Church of Christ, 2436 Croton Rd.

Celebration of life events are being planned at this time.  The family of Emma Louse Burnett will be sure to inform any that wish to attend.

Arrangements are entrusted to Strunk Funeral Home, 1623 North Central Avenue, Sebastian.

 

Donald R. Iodice, 81, Vero Beach

Donald R. Iodice passed away on June 18, 2020, at home in Vero Beach, at the age of 81. Don was born in Bridgeport, Ct., to Palma and Donato Iodice.

His legacy is one of a deep love of and commitment to family and friends, lifelong learning, many leadership roles throughout his life, and as a teacher and mentor to many.

He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy.  After being an owner of Kings Highway Pharmacy in Darien, Ct., he changed direction and received his JD from St John’s Law School. He went on to lead a highly successful career as the Northwestern Mutual General Agent for the State of Maryland, earning several advanced degrees in insurance and financial planning.

Upon retiring from the General Agent position, he became a teacher, coach and mentor to others looking to achieve in their profession and touched many lives through those endeavors.

In addition to his position as General Agent, his leadership impact included political roles in Connecticut, President of Chartwell Country Club in Maryland, Board of Directors of Hospice of the Chesapeake, and Member of the Board of Grand Harbor’s Eagles Society raising funds for the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital Foundation.

Eventually he fully retired to the Grand Harbor community in Vero Beach where he enjoyed many wonderful years of golf and bocce (known to many as The Bocce Man).

Surviving him are his wife of 58 years, Sheila Scott Iodice, formerly of Meriden, Ct.; younger brother, Robert, living in Cumming, Ga.; and his pride and joy four children and 10 grandchildren – they are daughter Pamela Baekey, married to Greg, parents of Brett, Jake, and Owen, living in Fairfield, CT;  son Scott, married to Blair, parents of Todd, Grant and Meredith, living in Baltimore, MD; daughter Tricia Hamilton, married to Keith, parents of Cassidy and Emma, living in Severna Park, MD; and son Rusty, married to Lisa, parents of Matthew and Alexander, living in NY City.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
