3 – including 2 IRC residents – die in Brev crash

BREVARD COUNTY — Three people were killed, including two residents, and another seriously hurt in a Thursday crash, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

Two passengers were thrown from the vehicle, authorities said.

The two-vehicle collision killed a 40-year-old Vero Beach man, a 28-year-old Sebastian man and a 44-year-old Orlando woman, troopers said. A 15-year-old girl from Sebastian was seriously hurt.

All four were traveling in a Ford Expedition. A 54-year-old Lakeland woman driving the other vehicle, a Kia, was not hurt, troopers said.

Troopers are no longer releasing the identities of victims in fatal crashes for privacy reasons.

The deadly collision happened about 5:30 a.m. Thursday on northbound Interstate 95, near mile marker 212, troopers said. Troopers said the Ford Expedition was traveling on I-95 while the Kia was entering the interstate from State Road 407.

At some point the two vehicles collided, though details leading up to the crash were unclear. The crash caused the Ford Expedition to overturn, jolting the adult man and woman passengers out of the vehicle, troopers said.

The driver and two adult passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. Troopers noted the driver wore a seat belt, but the adult passengers did not.

The third passenger, a minor, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, officials said.

Anyone who may have seen the wreck should contact troopers at 407-737-2213. The crash remains under investigation.
