Gifford Youth Achievement Center Awards $44K in scholarships

The Gifford Youth Achievement Center’s (GYAC) recently awarded $44,500 in scholarships to the following 16 graduating high school seniors:  Esther Cadet, Emily Chester, Olivia Faria, Da’Jah Farr, Henry Cameron, Jerah Jones, Alicia Maneiro, Jamyle Newman, Justin Newman, Skyler Outler, Christopher Peterson, Benny Rackard, Kymberlee Tyler, Madison Uhle, Abigail Valentino, and Keith Woulard.

“GYAC’s scholarships are available to high school seniors that wish to pursue post-secondary education or vocational training,” stated Angelia Perry, Executive Director of GYAC. “Preference is given to those students who attended GYAC and/or have volunteered at GYAC.  All students must be graduating seniors in financial need who have demonstrated acceptable academic achievement and exemplify character and good citizenship.”

Students will attend various institutions that include Boston College, Prairie View A&M University, University of Central Florida, Jacksonville University and Indian River State College.

GYAC offers five scholarships to assist students in pursuit of higher education: the Bob & Audrey Samuels Scholarship, the Jeanne B. Cleaver Scholarship, the Kathleen A. Westbrook Scholarship the Liz & Nick Melnick Scholarship, and the Marjorie Hopwood Richardson Scholarship.
