When the coronavirus halted the traditional Memorial Day festivities at the Moorings Yacht and Country Club, a subset of residents who comprise the Moorings Yacht Club quickly pulled together a Memorial Boat Parade that impressively drew more than 30 patriotically decorated boats.
The parade last Saturday, led by Commodore Kip Jacoby, encompassed all the waterways surrounding the Moorings community before making its way into Cutlass Cove, where viewers lined Harbor Drive to wave to their mariner friends and neighbors.
“We felt this was a perfect way to show support for all of our MYC members and the Moorings community, while also honoring and remembering all who have sacrificed for our great country, as well as those MYC members no longer with us,” said Jacoby. “What a wonderful way to celebrate our country and our community.”
