Schools’ ‘Drive-by, Say Hi’ pep rally gets classy reception
Staff Writer
The Indian River County School District Drive-by, Say Hi Pep Rally last Friday evening was a huge success! School Superintendent David Moore along with hundreds of teachers and staff from local elementary, middle and high schools were set up with banners, school colors and signs at assigned stations along the roadway circling the Indian River Mall to wave and yell greetings to a seemingly unending line of cars filled with students and parents.
Graduating seniors identified themselves by decorating cars with streamers and wearing their ‘mortarboard’ caps.
Smiling police directed the traffic as Sheriff’s Department squad cars, emergency vehicles and firetrucks, their lights flashing and sirens blaring, escorted the cars in an uplifting, heartwarming display of support for students, parents and teachers alike.
