Hendricus Hyacintus Maria Toussaint, Sebastian

Hendricus “Henk” Hyacintus Maria Toussaint, fell asleep in the Lord on March 10, 2020. He was born in Nijmegen, Netherlands, and lived in Sebastian since 1979 coming from Fort Knox, Ky., after retiring from the US Army where he served 25 years having retired with a rank of Sergeant Major.

Henk was a Roman Catholic Deacon who spoke five languages. He has a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger. With people from every language, tribe, and nation, he will not meet a stranger in that heavenly place where life is changed not ended and where you can find Henk playing a beautiful piano melody for all to enjoy.

Henk was a Deacon with St. Sebastian Catholic Church for 25 years where he was instrumental in the Home Bounds ministry, Prison ministry, Scripture Sharing, Opening the Soup Kitchen in Fellsmere, Florida and started Saint Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop.

He was also a member of the VFW Post 10210 and American Legion Post 189 both of Sebastian, Florida.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Elisabeth “Lisa” Toussaint; sons, Henry Toussaint and Anthony Toussaint; daughters, Carmen Toussaint and Lisa Maria Moses; brother, Louis Toussaint; sister, Maria Wever; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Johanna (Joke) Goossens and Dini Mulder.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 13075 U.S. 1, Sebastian, Florida 32958, in loving memory of Hendricus (Henk) Hyacintus Maria Toussaint.

Visitation will be held 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, with a Prayer Service held at 4:30 p.m. with Deacon John Dunlop, Officiant.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian, with Father Sparks, Officiant.

Interment will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 13, at Sebastian Cemetery, Sebastian, with Military Honors conducted by the Sebastian Area Veterans’ Honor Guard.

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
