Boater uninjured after vessel capsizes at Sebastian Inlet

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A boater was uninjured after his 17-foot vessel capsized in the Sebastian Inlet Thursday morning, according to Indian River County Fire Rescue.

Battalion Chief Lonn Benham said the sole occupant of the boat was picked up by a passing boater and was brought to shore uninjured. His boat, too, was towed to shore, where the boater began to bail it out.

Benham said he did not know how or why the 17-foot boat capsized.

The Coast Guard and FWC were notified of the incident.
