Deputies arrested Megan Louise Irwin, 33, on charges of burglary of occupied dwelling, fraudulent use of a credit card and theft of a credit card. Irwin was held Tuesday at the Indian River County Jail on $26,000 bond.

Jail records show Irwin lives in the 800 block of 29th Avenue Southwest, Vero Beach. But, Irwin’s arrest report described her as homeless.

Indian River County deputies responded to reports of an auto burglary about 3:24 p.m. Monday at Irwin’s home. A man told deputies his granddaughter, Irwin, took his credit card from his wallet that was inside his vehicle, reports show.

Deputies said Irwin used the card to book a room at a Motel 6. Irwin also bought items with the card twice at Walmart Supercenter, reports show.

Deputies went to the motel and spoke to Irwin. Irwin denied using the card at Walmart.

Deputies said Irwin refused to answer questions about her buying a hotel room with the card. Officers found the stolen card in Irwin’s belongings.

Deputies arrested Irwin and took her to the county jail. Irwin has an arraignment at 8:45 May 1, court records show.
