INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Three teenagers – all under 18 – were hurt after a truck flipped into a canal Friday, fire rescue crews said.
The truck overturned into the canal about 4 p.m. Friday behind Osceola Magnet School, near 18th Avenue Southwest. Fire rescue crews and sheriff’s deputies freed a girl whose leg was pinned underneath the vehicle, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said.
First responders were able to lift the vehicle off the girl, Kofke said.
The driver, a boy, was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries, Kofke said. The girl and another teen were taken to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital as a precaution.
Updates on the conditions of all involved were not immediately available. It was unclear what caused the wreck.
