Eugene M. Kinnison, Vero Beach

Eugene M. Kinnison, of Vero Beach, and formerly of Liverpool, N.Y., passed away on March 3, 2020.

Eugene retired after 35 years as an elementary school principal in Liverpool. Upon retiring, he and Diane moved to Vista Plantation in Vero Beach, where they have resided for the last 35 years.

He was an avid golfer and friend to everyone, and the memories we share of him will never be forgotten.

Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Diane; sons, Dan and Mark; grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Mark Jr., Joey and Nicole, and great-grandchildren, Sammy and Aria.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday March 10 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church.

 

Darlene Miller McCrary, 65, formerly Vero Beach

Darlene Miller McCrary, 65, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020, in Yeehaw Junction, Fla. She was born in Baumhoder, Germany.

She lived most of her life in Vero Beach, and moved to Carnesville, Ga.

She was a retired loan officer for Suntrust Bank.

Darlene was a long time member of Pioneer Baptist Church.

She graduated from Vero Beach High School.

She is survived by her son, James A. (Bobbie) McCrary; daughter, Teresa A. (Earl) Peek; five grandchildren, Harry Peek, Amber Peek, Hannah Peek, Russell Peek and Sara McCrary; sisters, Shirley (Jerry) Barfield and Susan Graham; and brother, Harry (Cassie) Coker.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margie Coker; father, Harry L. Coker; and husband, James R. McCrary.

 

Warren Howard Rich, Jr., 75, Vero Beach

Warren Howard Rich, Jr., 75, of Vero Beach, passed away March 3, 2020, at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital. He was born Dec. 17, 1944, in Camden, N.J., to the late Warren Howard Rich, Sr. and Edna Williamson Rich.

Mr. Rich enjoyed his many years of work as a Maintenance Supervisor at the Camden County Parks Division.

Warren was a member of St. John of the Cross, Vero Beach, and a member of Legion Mary.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, Joan; and sisters, Janet McKinney and Jessie Wirtz.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at St. John of the Cross, 7550 26th St., Vero Beach.

 

William Robert Thornton, 95, Vero Beach

William Robert Thornton, 95, of Vero Beach, formerly from Sebastian, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday March 1, 2020. He was born May 25, 1924, in Canal Point, Fla., to Joseph and Maudie Thornton.

Throughout his years, he worked for the City of Sebastian, was a commercial fisherman, mechanic and dock builder.

He loved to go hunting and fishing.

William was a Christian who attended Bethel Baptist Church in Ft. Pierce. He was a family man who loved his family deeply, any and everyone who knew him loved him and he would do anything for you.

“Pa will be greatly missed by all!!”

“Daddy” or “Pa,” as his family and friends knew him leaves behind his sons, John (Betsy) Thornton, and Billy Thornton; daughters, Yovonne (Ronnie) Ward, and Joanne (Denny) Royal; 10 grandchildren, John (Cindy) Thornton, Jennifer (Greg Budde), Ronnie (Kelly) Ward, Hershel Ward, Jeff (Danielle) Ward, Delsey (Lawrence) Kyzer, Cody (Candida) Thornton, Jody (Jennifer) Thornton, Tia Thornton and Tasha Thornton; 25 great-grandchildren, Mike (Steph) Rettemnier, Zach and Cam Buddy, Ashley (Rob) Farrugio, Lane (Alexandra) Ward, Caitlin Ward Durrell, Bailey and Paitin Ward, Jared and Beverly Thornton, Shelby Ward, Blake Ward (Weston) Cockrell, Kaylee and Kenzie Ward, Morgan and Taylor Kyzer, Austin and Justin Thornton, Gracie and Wyatt Thornton, Enaeshia, Edouard (Tre), Nah’Kayah and Na’Taeshia Jaccy, Malachi Thornton, Bryce and Aubrey Ward; and 20 great-great-grandchildren, Owen, Jude, Mia, Zach and Alex Rettemnier, Skyler, Levi, Luke, Liam and Aurora Ward, Cali and Makayla Durrell, Harper and Whitt Cockrell, Eli Thornton, Robbie, Anthony, Ashton and Haley Farrigo, Cadence Foster.

Pa and Granny also had many others who lived with them throughout the years and treated them as their own children.

William was one of eight siblings including six brothers and one sister, all of whompredeceased him. He was also predeceased by his wife, Annie Janet Thornton; daughter, Rhonda Thornton; and daughter-in-law, Glenda Thornton.
