OSCEOLA COUNTY — A Vero Beach man was among two people killed in a head-on collision Sunday on State Road 60, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The crash killed William Rawls, 63, Vero Beach, and Darlene McCrary, 65, of Carnsville, Georgia, highway troopers said. The wreck happened in Osceola County, northwest of Indian River County.

Troopers said Rawls was driving a 2008 Ford pickup about 2:15 p.m. Sunday on eastbound S.R. 60. For an unknown reason, Rawls drifted into the westbound lanes and struck a 2019 Jeep Compass, driven by McCrary.

Both Rawls and McCrary were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the wreck, a FHP report shows.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
