GIFFORD — No one was hurt after a gunman forced employees to open a cash register at Dunkin Donuts before fleeing with the money late Friday, deputies said.
Employees were taking out the garbage at the doughnut shop about 9 p.m. Friday when a man with a hand gun forced them back inside, Indian River County sheriff’s Sgt. James Dixon said. The Dunkin Donuts is located at 53rd Street and U.S. 1.
The man forced the employees to open the cash register, Dixon said.

The man fled from the eatery with an undisclosed amount of money, Dixon said. Sheriff’s K-9 units were still tracking the area for any scents the man left behind shortly before 10 p.m.
Deputies were interviewing witnesses at the scene No further details were immediately available.
