McKee kicks it into high gear for Motor Car exhibit
Staff Writer
An estimated 4,000 visitors were drawn like bees to honey to McKee Botanical Garden for the 11th annual Motor Car Exhibition, which this year featured the best of the best – top cars from 40 manufacturers.
The show’s committee – auto buffs all – selected rare and exotic cars from around the world, including such beauties as an Allard, McLaren and Daimler, and such historic race cars as a 1966 Corvette Red Ball racer, 1957 Lotus 11 LeMans and 1958 Lister Jaguar.
There were lots of other wonders to look at, too – the colorful Ocean Sole Africa Flip-the-Flop Sculpture Exhibition, featuring marine life sculptures made from recycled flip-flops; the newly completed Stickwork sculpture created by landscape artist Patrick Dougherty and volunteers; and, for the youngsters and young-at-heart, the newly opened Children’s Garden.
