The Indian River Symphonic Association’s Festival of Orchestras, from Jan. 17 through April 3, is presenting a series of concerts featuring seven symphony orchestras, including two of London’s most famous – the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. America’s own legendary violinist and conductor, Joshua Bell, will be conducting and performing with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Orchestra on Feb. 17 at the Community Church.
Maestro Bell will perform the famed violin concerto of the great Niccoló Paganini, and will also conduct the orchestra with works by Brahms and Beethoven.
The 2020 Festival of Orchestras is also presenting three artists who are among the most in-demand, critically acclaimed pianists in the world today. Khatia Buniatishvili is making her Vero Beach premiere appearance with London’s famed Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on Jan. 17. Called the “Beyoncé of the piano,” Ms. Buniatishvili is considered one of a handful of the top pianists in the world.
On Thursday, Feb. 13, the Russian State Symphony Orchestra comes to town with pianistic marvel Polina Osetinskaya who has been described as a “master jeweler” at the piano. She will be performing Edvard Grieg’s ever-popular Piano Concerto in A minor. The Russian State Symphony Orchestra ranks among the finest Russian symphony orchestras of the 21st century and will be performing Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3.
The third pianist in this piano extravaganza is another Russian superstar, Peter Laul, who will be the featured soloist with the Siberian State Symphony Orchestra on Friday, Jan. 24. The concert marks a Vero Beach premiere for this remarkable orchestra, performing the symphonic works of three of the greatest Russian masters – Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich.
Our own Brevard Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Christopher Confessore rounds out this excellent series with three concerts, one of which is the annual Pops concert featuring vocalist Michael Andrews who, with the orchestra, will perform songs long associated with the legendary Frank Sinatra. The concert, “A Sinatra Valentine,” takes place a week before Valentine’s Day on Feb. 7. The two additional concerts feature world-renowned flutist Amy Porter and the young, dynamic violinist Paul Huang, on March 13 and April 3 respectively.
All concerts take place at the Community Church of Vero Beach, 1901 23rd St., at 7:30 p.m. For tickets call (772)778-1070, or order online at irsymphonic.org.
