Semi hauling orange juice strikes Historic Desert Inn in Yeehaw

The Historic Desert Inn and Restaurant in Yeehaw Junction was damaged overnight after a semi-truck hauling orange juice struck the building, causing a partial collapse.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the truck collided with the building around 3 a.m. The Historic Desert Inn and Restaurant is located near the junction of State Road 60 and S. Kenansville Road in Osceola County, just outside Indian River County.

FHP identified the driver as Mareo Crawley, 50, of Illinois, who told investigators that he didn’t realize he had gone off the road before striking the building.

Neither Crawley nor anyone else was injured in the collision. FHP said no one was in the building at the time.

FHP is continuing to investigate the crash.
