Marion Kerr Frederick, 95, Vero Beach

Marion Kerr Frederick, 95, of Oak Harbor in Vero Beach, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, at her home. Born in Montclair, N.J., to the late Agnes Jamieson Kerr and Arthur Melvin Kerr, she attended Montclair public schools, graduating from Montclair High School in 1941.

In 1943, she graduated from Bennett Junior College, Millbrook, N.Y. She later attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority.

While working at Cannon Mills in New York City, she met William E. Frederick. They were married in 1952, ultimately enjoying a long and happy marriage until Bill’s passing in 2016.They raised their three children in Montclair.

Throughout her life, Marion was actively engaged in her community, serving on the boards of local hospitals, as well as on several parent-teacher associations of her children’s schools. She was active with the Montclair Junior League, eventually serving as its President. She was Chairman for two United Way telethons, answered phones for a local helpline service, and was Chairman of the Montclair Garden Club.

Marion was a successful business woman. She attended the New York School of Interior Design, and founded Wortman and Frederick, an interior decorating company, in 1965. She was involved in the Bellmont Investment Association for over 40 years.

Highly regarded by her friends as a “hostess with the mostest,” she was known for her style and elegance and loved to entertain. Her attention to detail ensured the success of every social gathering in which she was involved.

Mim and Bill Frederick originally retired to Sea Island, Ga. They later moved to Vero Beach, where a dozen of their Montclair friends had also retired.

She is survived by her three children, Kerrie, of Trimble, Mo., William Jr,(Elizabeth), of Beverly, Mass., and Dale (Ed) of London, England; as well as grandchildren, Elizabeth, Reilly and Samuel.

Interment will be at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Upper Montclair, N.J., where services will be private.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

David Hernandez-Pizano, 88, Vero Beach

David Hernandez-Pizano, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at Cleveland Clinic of Indian River County.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, from 4-8 p.m. at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, at 10 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.

 

Doris Kraemer Heuerman, 91, Vero Beach

Doris Kraemer Heuerman, 91, of Vero Beach, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2019, at her home. Doris was born in Syosset, Long Island, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach since 1987 coming from New York, N.Y.

She had been a kindergarten teacher prior to her retirement, having taught on Long Island and in Franklin Lakes, N.J.

Doris graduated from Adelphi University earning B.A. and M.A. degrees. While at Adelphi, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was elected President of the Student Government. She was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and the American Association of University Women.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen B. Cushing and Janet L. Johnson; sons-in-law, William D.B. Loos and Christopher A. Johnson; and beloved grandsons, Evan A. Cushing and Erik A. Johnson.

She was predeceased by her adoring husband, Robert Heuerman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of Indian River-Palm Beach, P.O. Box 6896, Vero Beach, FL 32961 in memory of Mrs. Heuerman.

 

Ann Monroe-Hecker, 85, Vero Beach

Ann Monroe-Hecker, 85, of Vero Beach, passed away on Dec. 17, 2019. Born Aug. 28, 1934, in Providence, R.I., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Antionetta Martone Plazzo.

A homemaker first and foremost, Mrs. Ann worked outside the home retiring in 1999 as an administrator at National Health Care.

She attended St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie; enjoyed traveling the world, scuba diving, and playing Mah-jongg.

She is survived by her three sons, William J. Monroe (wife, Dolores); Robert M. Monroe (wife, Tracy); and Gary l. Monroe; grandchildren, William Monroe II, Nicole Garrity, Michael Monroe, Ashley Monroe, Robert Monroe, Jr., Eric Monroe and Steven Southall; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ursula Guale; and many other loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by 11 siblings; and two husbands, Marcellous L. Monroe in 1971; and Edward Hecker in 2012.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2000 20th St., Vero Beach. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home.
