Edgar Christopher Britt, 88, Sebastian

Edgar “Ed” Christopher Britt, 88, of Sebastian, passed away on Dec. 14, 2019, at William Childs Hospice House, Palm Bay, Fla. He was born in Chelsea, Mass., and lived in Sebastian for 38 years, coming from Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1981.

Ed was a United States Army veteran retiring after serving 32 years. During his career he received medals and commendations as follows: Bronze Star Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Master Parachute Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Dom Rep), National Defense Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Civil Action Medal 1st class, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, Germany Army Marksman Award in Silver, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (10th Award), Legion of Merit, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Non-Professional Development Ribbon. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major.

He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sebastian, as well as a member of the following organizations: the Special Forces Association (Life Member), 82nd Airborne, Son-Tay Raid, American Legion Post 189, and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1038 (Life Member).

Survivors include his daughters, Karen A. Blair of Middleboro, Mass., and Deborah White (Ron), of Sebastian; grandsons, Gregory M. Costa (Andrea) and Brandon White; granddaughters, Rae Costa, Karen Hassey (Paul), Ashley White and Christa White; great-grandson, Brandon Hassey; great-granddaughter, Darrien Hassey; and great-great-granddaughter, Kemelah Stephson.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Helen Louise Britt, in 2011.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Victory Center Military Store, 6200 20th Street, Suite 160, Vero Beach, Florida 32966 in loving memory of Ed Britt.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. with a Prayer Service to follow on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Strunk Funeral Home, 1623 North Central Avenue, Sebastian. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

 

David Harold Norrington, 58, Sebastian

David Harold Norrington, 58, of Sebastian, passed away on Dec. 14, 2019, at Sebastian River Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 28, 1961, in Westwood, N.J., and moved to Sebastian 23 years ago from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Surviving are his mother, Sandra Roma, of Sebastian; his only daughter, Sandra Carmen Norrington, of Vero Beach, Florida; his sisters, Sheila Denise Schrock and Moira Ann McNair, both of Sebastian, Florida, and Lori Gina Roma, of Vero Beach; 17 nieces and nephews; and five grandnieces and grandnephews.

A visitation will be held 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, at Strunk Funeral Home, 1623 North Central Avenue, Sebastian.

Funeral and interment will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, at Sebastian Cemetery, 1921 North Central Ave., Sebastian.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 in memory of Mr. David Harold Norrington.
