David S. Kotrulya, 91, Vero Beach

David S. Kotrulya, 91, of Vero Beach, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019. David was born in 1928 to Anna and Samuel Kotrulya in Harvey, Ill. He was one of six children.

David was employed as a technician at Lever Brothers of Hammond, Ind., for 32 years.

He enjoyed socializing and dining out with friends, traveling, and cruising to other countries.

Because of his faith in Jesus’ words at John 13:35 ‘to love one another,’ David was incarcerated as a conscientious objector during the Korean War in the 1950s. There he met Bobbie Logan and remained friends until his death.

David was a lifelong member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and thoroughly enjoyed sharing his hope for a better future with others.

He is survived by his sister, Francis Kleckner; his nieces, Patti Van Pelt, Marilyn Christiansen and Carol Christensen; and his nephews, Thomas Van Pelt, Johnny Brunac and Larry Christensen, all of Illinois.

David was preceded in death by his wife Ivy (1989), and by his wife Eileen (2016); his sisters, Elizabeth Pennavaria, Pauline Christiansen, Rosemary Climpson and Dorothy Brunac.

A Memorial Service was held at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m.

 

Mary Ann Mahoney, 80, Sebastian

Mary Ann Mahoney, 80, of Sebastian, died peacefully at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach after a 3-year battle with cancer. She was a long time resident of Contoocook, N.H., where she raised her two daughters before moving to Sebastian in 2004.

Mary Ann was loved by many and touched the hearts of all who met her. She will be greatly missed.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 50 years, Robert Mahoney; her daughters, Anita Arbo (partner, Ricky St.Pierre) of Hopkinton, N.H., and Apryl Carr, of New Port Richey, Fla.; and grandchildren, Nathaniel Carr, 26, of New Hampshire, Nikolas Carr, 25, of New Hampshire, Kaila Carr, 23, of Hawaii, Gabriel Arbo, 24, of New Hampshire; and great-grandchildren, Alena Carr, 8, of New Hampshire, and Jackson Barchey, 3 months old, of Hawaii.

Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Teresa Bailey.

A celebration of Mary Ann’s life will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. held at Strunk Funeral Home, 1623 N Central Ave., Sebastian, with Rev. Lewis R. Gwyn III, officiating.

Chad Clinton Reece, 43, Vero Beach

Chad Clinton Reece, 43, went home to Jesus on Nov. 9, 2019. Chad was born in Osage, Iowa, to Pamela Reece and Leon Calkins. Chad grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and moved to Vero Beach.

Chad worked as an Apprentice Electrician.

He was a member of Community Church of Vero Beach. Chad graduate from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Chad was a proud father and stepfather. Throughout Chad’s life he loved to help his friends. Chad loved learning and teaching whenever he could.

Chad is survived by his wife Sarah Reece of Vero Beach; daughters Ashlee Marie Reece of Cedar Rapids, and Skye Elizabeth Reece of Marion, Iowa; and stepson Doriann Gnade, of Vero Beach.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Reece.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Community Church of Vero Beach, Friday, Nov 22, at 3 p.m.
